I think like... firmware 2.50 and higher allowed the 4gb limit to be exceeded, so 8gb should work just fine now.

Beyond that, the 8gb seems like a good deal for being new to the market and all. I don't think I want one, but now since people are crowding around them I will be able to get a 4gb memory stick even cheaper than $100 from NewEgg

dang! 8Gb's ?! that's crazy, i thought it was a lot wen i got a 2 gb mem card. isn't there a 40gb harddrive?

From what i've heard the 40 gb hard drive can only swap games from your mem stick/onto your mem stick.

But yeah with the 8gb priced at 260(around 300 after taxes)..its probably better to just buy 2 of the 4gb since theyre now priced at 100 CDN (about 85 US). At least that is until they decide to make a 16gb and the 8gb price plummits

Just searched on the 16gb turns out they plan on releasing it in 2008 and the 32gb in 2009 (imagine the price tags on those)

that's exactly my logic. I'm thinking that I should get a 4gb at a FRACTION of the cost for an 8gb. And honestly, a 4gb would fit all of my homebrew needs in about 2gb, and I compress my music so I have about 800mb in songs and the rest would be video or something if I needed it. I see no "need" for 8gb unless you are a diehard iso fanatic, which isn't me.

You can always buy an 8gb on ebay for about 100-120 (i'm assuming they're not original Sony tho)

I'd assume they are very fake though as well. Some people luck out and get fake cards that work just fine, but they will supposedly have a shorter "life time"
